Sail Washing Day

I was bothered to discover that I had some small amounts of black mildew on my sail.  Likely caused by having splashed some sail water onto the sail the previous summer then storing it with boom/yard bundle under the covered but outdoor deck roof over the winter.  I read that soaking overnight  in a dilute bleach solution and then thoroughly rinsing might do the trick.  It certainly did.
Looks like new again!

A Few More Modification

After my four and five day cruises I decided that I need to refine my storage and organization systems on Fib.  Using larger bags, coolers, water containers means that I am unable to store all these 'below' so ma forever shifting these around.  Also, in the event of a capsize or other emergency these items could be at risk of entanglement or loss.

Large water container that is difficult to store replaced by smaller 1-2 litre bottles more easily stowed.  Note also that I found a handy fender stowage solution.

The compartment below these hatch tends to get wet from a tiny leak from adjacent water ballast tank but is fine for holding small water containers.

Added 8" hatch to access area beneath port bench.  Originally wanted to keep the benchtops clear of hatches but this makes sense and do not sit on that spot in realty.  I have another hatch that may get installed on the aft end of the starboard bench.

Two plastic organizers on either side of veranda to hold radio, sunscreen, gps, etc.

I have had these handy recycle boxes since my last boat but worried about losing lids so added a couple of bungies to each'

Met up with Curtis in his Winder Rider and Murat in his Siren for four days and three nights poking around southern Howe Sound.  we spent our first night at Halkett Bay (nice 4 hour sail from Gibsons Landing for me) and then two nights at Plumper Cove on Keats Island,

Some pics...

A couple of weeks later I sailed back to Halkett Bay where I rendezvoused with Murat.  Later in the day I met up with Tony and Hans in their big boat.  Enjoyed an evening with them and ended up sleeping aboard.  Motored back to Gibsons early the next morning.

Desolation Sound Cruise Day One August 13th towed Fib from Gibsons to Okeover Inlet via Earls Cove ferry.   Met up with Jean Francois and ...
