SCAMP #434 Build - December Progress Report

The month feels a little like the final run to the finish line.   Boat flipped back upright and final painting completed.  Rudder and centreboard completed.  Hardware and trailer ordered.  Hatches  installed, etc.

Some irregularities in paint surface on bench tops so sanded down to primer in places

Needed to remove about 1 mm to fit pintles prior to paint
Window ports installed and roof/transom cap painted
Paint a bend of Rusto-lium red, light grey and dark grey - kind of a fetching raspberry colour

Centreboard line hole drilled and sealed

Rudder cheeks painted (note piece of newspaper painted stuck to paint - nice)

Centreboard and rudder both painted with multiple coast of white epoxy hull paint

Rudder mounted with 8 x 1/4" ss bolts - feels very over built and strong

Removable tiller in position.  Aft hatches sealed with 3M marine sealant and attached with ss screws

Forward hatches installed

Centreboard lifting line turning block and fairlead installed

CB line cleat attached to plywood to allow access to bolts

Nuts recessed and bolts trimmed flush

Installed

These (yet to be fitted) clip together rudder grates were given to me by neighbour and will be perfect for foot well

Centreboard cover temporarily attached with countersunk ss screws

Port hatch for venting/access to area beneath bench from veranda - also one on starboard side
View from outside the garage with Christmas garlands
The reveal!

Christmas Catan tournament at the cottage

Happy 2019 and fair winds!
