More 'lots of little jobs' culminating with planking the hull which seems to me like a big turning point in the building process.
Making some deviations from the typical build which included:
- Glassed the floors and footwell as added protection.
- Glassed inner surface of two forward most garboard plank for added strength as it feels like these areas will be the 'first on the scene' of any bumps or collisions.
- Planning to add 15" wide stern lazarette between the seats with rectangular hatch
- Adding small hatch to access watertight area between bulkhead seven and stern and sealed the bulkhead.
- Added hatches to inside of bulkhead four to access and vent under seat compartments.
- Decided to keep seat tops hatch free for cleaner lines and sitting comfort. This is a big decision but upon reflection I think the storage will not be necessary for my style of sailing especially when the other available storage in taken into consideration. Hatches can always be added later.
- Trying the oil based Tremclad rust paint for locker surfaces. Other builders have been very happy with this product.
