Crossing the SCAMP Rubicon - No Going Back Now!

A couple of weeks ago we borrowed a mini van and traveled from our home in Vancouver, BC to Port Townsend, Washington - world HQ for all things SCAMP.

My CNC cut plywood SCAMP kit (#434) was ready for pick up.

The CNC shop is just around the corner from the Duckworks warehouse so we included a visit there to pick up some supplies to get our project started - epoxy kits, fillers, hatches and ports.  Josh gave us a warm welcome and a tour of the very tidy and well organized Duckworks operations.  It was very handy that Josh's SCAMP #1 was being stored in the warehouse.  This allowed us to talk details like footwells and hatches with a 1:1 model for reference.

Crossing the border back into Canada we were uncertain of the charges we would be facing with duty, taxes, etc. and were pleasantly surprised that it simply amounted to the GST/PST taxes only.

  1. Randy, Funny thing...my first Scamp was also hauled home in a Honda Odyssey, exact same color as yours. This photo brought back a lot of memories...seeing all those pieces laying in the back all jumbled up in a heap of Okoume. Great to see you've begun. I'll be reading your posts with great interest.
